A first grade masterpiece

What a fun school day! I got to go help Hunter's class do an art project a couple weeks before school got out. They have an artist come in and teach the kids how to paint these butterflies.

The artist was great! She told them they could make their butterflies look however they wanted;fat, thin, short, tall, lots of wings or just a couple. The kids got to sketch their butterflies on paper then cut them out and trace them onto a canvas. Then they got to start painting. They had so much fun!

Here is Hunter with his butterfly halfway done. After they painted the solid colors it had to dry. Then they got to use "utensils". Which were really just stamps and sponges. They really were able to use their imagination and create a masterpiece of their own.

After finishing the painting, the artist stayed to trace around the lines with black paint. Here is Hunter's work of art. Isn't is great? I love, love, love it!
